How to install Debian Linux on Trizeps VIII Mini Evaluation Kit
This document explains the process of reinstalling our Debian Linux on the evaluation kit of Trizeps VIII Mini in combination with pCon XS baseboard.
The Image is based on our Debian Linux which is the latest release we provide.
It is necessary that the module is prepared with a Linux compatible U-Boot or was already used for Linux/ Yocto
Requirements:
Necessary Hardware
Evaluation Kit
( including : pConXS III EVTV III , Powersupply 12/24V , Trizeps VIII Mini )
Serial Cable (part of the Evaluation-Kit)
USB-A to USB-Ä Cable (part oft he Evaluation-Kit)
PC with Windows
Necessary Software
Tera Term or Putty (Terminal Emulators)
USB Image Tool ( can be downloaded here)
Image ( by request )
This is done in 4 steps:
Preparation of the eMMC
Install Image
Final start of Linux
Preparation of the Evaluation Kit (eMMC)
To prepare the Evalkit you need to establish a serial connection.
For this you need the Tool Tera Term(Terminal Emulator ) on your PC and a Serial connection by Serial cable ( if your PC has no serial port you need to use additional a USB to Serial -Adapter)
Make sure that the USB-Port of the Evaluation System is set to OTG (Jumper see picture)
To establish the connection you need to open Tera Term ,now press the ESC-Buttom on keyboard and power on the Evaluation -System.
Now you should be conneted to U-Boot ( Bootloader).
Use folowing command to configure system so that it can be used as a mass-Storage Device.
After that the Evaluation system can be used as Storage Media.
Now you need to deploy the Image to eMMC of the Evaluation-Kit
Keep the connection and make a second connection with the USB to USB Cable.
Open the USB Image Tool.
In Folder „Options“ you need to adjust 2 Settings:
Truncate oversize images in device mode
Fix GPT after Restore
Rescan and when you can see your device on the left side
Install Image
press restore , select the Image File and confirm to restore.
When the restore process has been finished you need to unmount the eMMC oft he Evaluation -Kit
from your PC. Switch back to Tera Term and Press Ctrl + C
use the command: Reset in U_BOOT force a restart.
3.Final Start of Linux
Or press Reset Button ( corner with red light)
Finally the System will boot up with Linux.
Now it is ready to use .
