The function AC97_Alloc allocates the virtual addresses and space for all the registers the other AC97_Xxxx-functions will be using. Also creates an AcController Mutex.

short int AC97_Alloc( BYTE DevId);   
short int AllocAcLink( BYTE DevId);   

Parameters

DevId
0, reserved for future use.

Return Values

If this function succeeds, the return value is SUCCESS.
If the function fails, the return value is FALSE.

Remarks

This function gets called through AC97_Init. Theres no need to call it when using AC97_Init!.
