This document explains the process of installing our Windows 10 IoT Enterprise on the evaluation kit of Trizeps VIII Mini in combination with pCon XS baseboard.

The Image is  based on our Windows 10 IoT Enterprise BSP 1.4.0, which is the latest release we provide.

It is necessary that the module is prepared with a Windows compatible U-Boot firmware or was already used for Windows IoT.

Requirements:

 

Necessary Hardware

Evaluation Kit

( including: pConXS III EV TVIII, Powersupply 12/24V, Trizeps VIII Mini min.16GB eMMC)

SD-Card with a capacity of min. 8 GB

PC with USB-Card reader for SD-card (for preparation)

Necessary Software

USB Image Tool (can be downloaded here)

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise WinPE Image  (by request)

 

 

This is done in 4 steps:

  1. Preparation of the need SD-card

  2. Flashing Windows IoT to eMMC

  3. First boot

  4. Finalized OS

 

 

1.Preparation of the SD-Card

We suggest to use a Windows System with the USB Image Tool. Insert SD-Card in your Cardreader and  start the USB Image Tool. Select the SD-Card with a capacity of at least 8 GB. Than select restore.

 

Choose the Image (make .imz Images in file-selection visible) and confirm to restore.

When the restore process has been finished you can see following files on the SD-card.

 

2.Flashing Windows IoT to eMMC

The image contains the Windows PE (Preinstallation Environment) as well as the files necessary to install Windows 10 IoT Enterprise on the eMMC of your device.

To deploy Windows 10 IoT Enterprise insert the SD-Card into the SD-Card slot of your ready assabled Evalkit Baseboard and connect power.

The system will start the WinPE boot environment and install the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

First you will see a script running on screen to prepare the system, than you will see different messages from Windowsinstallation. This will take several minutes, please don’t interupt.

Simply follow the instructions on the screen and remove the SD Card and restart the device when prompted.

 

 

3.First boot

Make sure that the SD-card is removed and power on the System.

The setup will be finalized automatically after first booting into Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. This process can take a couple of minutes.

At beginning you get a screen with windows logo,

 

And finally you get this screen

 

 

4.Finalized Operating System

Welcome screen

 

Finished, the system will show you the well known Windows Desktop.

Now you can do your Specific configuration, e.g. change devicename, activation or install your apps.
